Arkema has become a partner of Sport dans la Ville, an association which aims to promote the social and professional integration of young people from disadvantaged districts through the introduction of sporting and cultural activities. 6,500 young people are concerned by this action.

A program called L dans la Ville is dedicated to 1,000 girls and offers them sporting activities, cultural visits, outings on the theme of “discovery”, visits to businesses, and training workshops to give them the same opportunities of success as boys, and encourage their development as well as social and professional integration.

In 2009, we set up the L dans la Ville program dedicated to girls to give them the same opportunities of success as boys and encourage their development as well as social and professional integration. We realized that teenage girls didn’t necessarily feel like playing football or basketball with boys. So we had to work out a solution. But as with boys, this program operates on a multi-disciplinary basis that aims to promote access to sporting activities and finding out about the world of work. We approached Arkema when we learned that the company was a sponsor of the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019™. Arkema immediately expressed an interest in our initiative and in particular our program intended for girls."

Arkema will be welcoming girls to some of its sites to show them what jobs are available in the chemical sector and get them to meet with our personnel.

Sport dans la Ville will also be the organizer of Street Football World Festival 19, a major international charity tournament that will be held to coincide with the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019 in Lyon, in early July.

As national supporter of the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019, Arkema decided to support the general interest missions of the Sport dans la Ville association, in particular by sponsoring this international charity championship event that will benefit 400 participants including 300 young people from around the world.
